Mum's Army policies
Over 7000 Mums' Army supporters have completed a questionnaire published in Take a Break. These replies form the basis of Mums' Army's policies for tackling antisocial behaviour:
- 99 per cent said that there should be more police officers on the beat
- 98 per cent said that more police cars should patrol known trouble spots
- 99.5 per cent believed that police patrols should continue beyond 10pm
- 94 per cent said that membership of a street gang should be made illegal
- 98 per cent said that the police should stop and search known and suspected gang members for weapons and drugs
- 91 per cent believed that parents should have greater access to expert help so that they can learn how to discipline their children and teach them right from wrong
- 90 per cent supported the proposal that parents of antisocial children should be compelled to attend parenting classes
- 86 per cent agreed that gangsta lyrics and music videos which promoted disrespect, drugs and violence should be banned
- 82 per cent said that violent computer games should be banned
- 99 per cent of readers advocated increased protection for people who report antisocial behaviour
- 97 per cent said the law should be more sympathetic to those who are provoked by yobs into breaking the law.
