Poll
Comission for Common Sense
Even Cherie Blair is not immune. When a schoolboy made ‘rabbit ears’ behind her, she pretended to cuff him. It was a playful gesture but had an astonishing result – six detectives turned up to investigate.
She was cleared of any misdemeanour but the groans could be heard from one end of Britain to the other. Are they serious? Haven’t they got anything better to do? Why don’t they catch some thugs instead?
It was yet another example of political correctness gone mad. Are you fed up with this sort of nonsense? We certainly are here at Take a Break's Mums’ Army. It isn’t just a bad joke. It’s a serious waste of time and energy that could be applied to tackling problems such as antisocial behaviour.
We reckon that political correctness is one of the reasons today’s children are often so poorly disciplined, not just by parents but by the community as a whole — teachers, neighbours, relatives and any other grown-up they encounter. Woe betide the adult who dares to correct a youngster these days. They’ve a good chance of ending up at the police station. It is a mad, mad world. That’s why Mums’ Army is launching a new campaign to bring back an undervalued virtue. Using our many supporters, we have founded the Commission for Common Sense.
Regularly, we will put current stories before the Commission and ask their opinion. Has someone defied common sense? Is it political correctness gone mad?
